Perante factos de carácter subjectivo e intersubjectivo, dialecticamente imbuídos na comunidade onde se insere Porto Brandão, pensou-se numa junção programática definida como Centro Comunitário e de Alto Rendimento, resposta arquitectónica às necessidades primeiras das pessoas deste espaço geográfico.
Aqui, procurou-se uma certa arquitectura, um método científico definido e uma busca processual incessante pela forma que origina uma espacialidade, que contem uma atmosfera ou ambiência específicas. Através de um longo percurso na descoberta do significado do que representa fazer arquitectura, concluiu-se que perante determinada solicitação programática, a criatividade inaugura um campo onde essa mesma criação impôs regras de âmbito técnico e funcional. Por outro lado, o acto de fazer arquitectura, pressupôs a descoberta de noções de cariz poético e estético que, devidamente acauteladas, através de uma constante superação dos factos inerentes ao próprio processo, vislumbram-se no próprio objecto arquitectónico. Também se antecipam as vivências, coisa maior e significado áureo da arquitectura. Essas formas de habitar lugares específicos, que pela mão do arquitecto são reveladas, com e através de pré-existências (nenhum lugar é vácuo), subtraindo ou adicionando a matéria suficiente para o desvelar intrínseco da natureza de cada lugar, são primordiais e são via para uma certa ideia de Património.
Assim, pensa-se que face a estes factos, está-se perante um ofício e uma forma de fazer arquitectura que, em última instância, representam uma oferta ao lugar.
Given facts of a subjective and intersubjective nature, dialectically imbued in the community where Porto Brandão is located, a programmatic junction defined as a Community and High-Performance Center was thought of, an architectural response to the primary needs of the people of this geographical space. Here, we seek a particular architecture, a defined scientific method and a constant procedural search for the form that originates a spatiality, which contains a specific atmosphere or ambience. Through a long journey in discovering the meaning of what architecture represents, it is concluded that faced with a given programmatic request, creativity inaugurates a field where that same appeal imposes rules of technical and functional scope, of a poetic and aesthetic nature that, duly taken care of, and always in dichotomous and dialectical action between them, through a constant discovery and overcoming of facts inherent to the process itself, the object is glimpsed. Experiences are also anticipated, a greater thing and the golden meaning of architecture. These ways of inhabiting specific places, which by the hand of the architect are revealed, with and through pre-existences (no place is a vacuum) subtracting or adding enough matter to reveal the intrinsic nature of each place, are primordial and are via for a particular idea of Heritage. Therefore, it is thought that given these facts, we are faced with a craft and a way of creating architecture, which ultimately represents a gift to the place.
