Resumo(s)
The Project Education, Art and Heritage is a pioneer project in the area of monuments which consists of the development of Art Teaching through Painting, Drama and Encounters with History workshops. It is directed to children from 4 to 12 years old with the purpose of joining Education through Art with the discovery of our Heritage and History. This project was born in 2012 at the Convent of Christ, a place of History, where can be found the most representative artistic styles of Romanesque Art, Late Gothic and Mannerism in Portugal. In this magical place, full of symbolism, this project traced a route of discovery and revelation of History which allowed that one of the most important monuments of Portugal was be perceived in a new perspective and also felt, by the children, as the "house" of fascinating people. The project has evolved to incorporate the National Pantheon and the Convent of Mafra, and during the last school year was developed at the Batalha Monastery with artist residency at the Faculty of Fine Arts of University of Lisbon, with the support of the Portuguese Government of Culture Minister, Directorate-General for Cultural Heritage, the Faculty of Fine Arts of University of Lisbon, the Autónoma University, the Association of João de Deus Kindergartens and other schools. In the ateliers of Artistic Education children learn how to express, through the beauty and the emotion, in the pursuit of an existence that matches with the fantasy of each individual. They find themselves inspired by the historical iconography in order to create, through a “forest of symbols”, an oral and writing form of communication which results in texts construction and in plastic works that determine history. The purpose of this work is the evaluation of the project, based on the Portuguese History and Plastic Arts, ensuring that creativity and imagination are markedly present in the Plastic Arts as well as in the narrative through stories and illustrations
