Resumo(s)
The study area analyzed throughout this work refers to the coastal territory including the municipalities of Cascais, Sintra, Mafra, Torres Vedras and Lourinhã. These municipalities have very different characteristics, such as buildings, natural and semi-natural vegetation as well as agriculture, thus making it interesting to see how the elements fire and wind influence in landscape balance of this territory.
The fires were studied in detail, with the main aims of understanding the affected areas, but also to identify the starting points associated to each fire and finally understand the dynamic transitions in land use.
The study allowed a better understanding of the association of the direction(s) of dominant wind with the area burnt, and also allowed to question the accuracy and precision of the indicated location of the starting points in relation with the likely development of fire under the influence of the dominant winds
