Abstract(s)
O presente documento pretende fazer uma reflexão sobre o estado da Margem Sul, que se situa de frente para Lisboa na Embocadura do Rio Tejo, sítio onde acaba o Rio e começa o Oceano. Nos últimos dois séculos, com o fim da época industrial, tem vindo a ser progressivamente abandonada, criando espaços devoluto e obsoletos que perderam a conexão com a cidade, levando a que a Cidade vire costas ao rio.
A Margem Sul é um território vasto e diversificado nos seus espaços e gentes, que vai desde o grande estaleiro naval à pequena cabana de madeira, ou do pescador ao operário, e que desde sempre tiveram uma relação simbiótica com o rio, mas que se tem vindo a perder.
A partir de uma leitura atenta da forma da margem, de um pensamento crítico e da imaginação, o projecto passa por re-imaginar este território de maneira que as pessoas possam novamente conectar-se ao rio, e a partir da memória e identidade do lugar num cenário utópico, restabelecer a importância da Margem Sul no território.
This document’s goal is to reflect on the state of the Margem Sul (South Side), which faces Lisbon, at the mouth of the Tagus River, where the river ends, and the ocean begins. In the last two centuries, with the end of the industrial era, this area has been progressively abandoned, creating vacant and obsolete spaces that have lost their connection with the city and making the city turning its back on the river. The Margem Sul is a vast and diversified territory in its spaces and people, ranging from the large shipyard to the small wooden shelter, from the fisherman to the factory worker. People who always had a symbiotic relationship with the river, but one that is being progressively lost. From a careful reading of the shape of the bank, critical thinking and imagination, the project involves re-designing this territory so that people can once again connect to the river; and from the memory and identity of this place in a utopian scenario, the importance of the Margem Sul in the territory can be re-established.
