O presente Projeto Final de Mestrado tem como objetivo, o desenvolvimento de uma proposta para a reabilitação do Quartel do Regimento de Lanceiros nº2, ao nível urbano e do edificado. O quartel, que se encontra inativo desde 2015, localiza-se na Calçada da Ajuda na freguesia de Belém e é composto por edifícios diferenciados pela função e tipologia que se distribuem em torno de uma parada militar. De forma a contribuir para a dinamização das freguesias de Belém e da Ajuda, são propostos dois programas distintos, uma escola de artes no edifício norte e espaços de co-working, workshops e exposições nos armazéns a sul. Esta proposta tem também como objetivo, ajudar na escassez dos equipamentos escolares artísticos em Portugal. Neste território é necessário uma proposta que salvaguarde os valores e memória do lugar e que simultaneamente, o integre na vida urbana do bairro. A concepção desta proposta passa, também, pela reabilitação da antiga parada militar, tornando-a num ponto de convívio entre os residentes e a futura “população escolar”. Nesta intervenção teve-se em consideração as qualidades arquitectónicas e a memória do edifício. Em suma, este projeto tem o objetivo de contribuir para o aumento das escolas artísticas, em Portugal, uma vez que a procura destas escolas é maior que a oferta,. Contribuir, também, para criar condições que melhorem a vida no bairro e uma permeabilidade entre a Calçada da Ajuda e a Rua Alexandre Sá Pinto.
The present Master's Final Project aims at developing a proposal for the rehabilitation of the Regiment of Lancers No. 2 Barracks, at both the urban and built levels. The barracks, inactive since 2015, are located on Calçada da Ajuda in the parish of Belém and consist of buildings differentiated by function and typology, arranged around a military parade ground. In order to contribute to the revitalization of the Belém and Ajuda districts, two distinct programs are proposed: an arts school in the northern building and co-working spaces, workshops, and exhibitions in the warehouses to the south. This proposal also aims to address the shortage of artistic school facilities in Portugal. In this area, a proposal is needed that preserves the values and memory of the place while integrating it into the urban life of the neighborhood. The conception of this proposal also involves the rehabilitation of the former military parade ground, turning it into a meeting point for residents and the future "school population". In this intervention, the architectural qualities and memory of the building were taken into consideration. In summary, this project aims to contribute to the increase of artistic schools in Portugal, as the demand for these schools exceeds the supply. It also aims to create conditions that improve life in the neighborhood and permeability between Calçada da Ajuda and Rua Alexandre Sá Pinto.
