A Arquitetura, em grande parte graças às suas características intrínsecas de durabilidade, versatilidade e imprescindibilidade para a humanidade, apresenta, um vasto património de grande valor histórico-social. Tendo em conta a atual atividade do projeto de arquitetura, e o contexto socioeconómico em que nos encontramos, o papel da reabilitação do edificado acaba por se tornar uma ferramenta fundamental, um pouco por toda a cidade, naquilo que é a atividade projetual das últimas décadas. Dada a imediatez com que esta necessidade se observou e efetivou, a investigação e preocupação com as consequências que estas intervenções teriam sobre o património arquitetónico, acabariam assim relevadas para segundo plano. Este documento pretende ser uma chamada de atenção para este facto, servindo-se assim da análise de um caso de estudo prático, o Museu Nacional de História Natural e da Ciência para uma reflexão e consequente proposta de intervenção consciente sobre o mesmo, abordando, ainda assim, temáticas transversais à prática da reabilitação num sentido mais lato.
Due to its inherent characteristics of durability, versatility and indispensability to the humankind, Architecture presents a vast heritage of a great historic and social value. Taking this into account, nowadays activity of architectural design and the socioeconomical context that we found ourselves in, the role of the building rehabilitation turns out to be a fundamental asset, all over the city, in what is the architectural design activity of the last decades. Due to the shortly period in whom this necessity was noticed and done, the investigation and the concern with the repercussions that these interventions would have upon the building heritage, would end up being relegated to the background. This document intends to be a wake-up call to this fact, making use of an analysis of a real building example, o Museu Nacional de História Natural e da Ciência, to reflect and propose a conscious intervention upon it, approaching cross themes to the practice of building rehabilitation in general.
