The objective is to understand which roles language can play in narratives that portray technologically advanced future worlds. Therefore, the investigation is divided into two axes of analysis: one at the level of the plot, interpreting how language is related to the characters and events; and another at the level of narrative structure, assimilating how language is presented in the stylistic, formal and graphic resources used by the authors. The analysis is carried out based on the bibliographic methodology, especially considering the following concepts and their meanings: language, dystopia and multimodality. That said, we claim that, in both novels, language acts as an identification link in different layers: in the characters as human beings and society; in the narrative construction as a process that connects to the futuristic theme and, in a way, multiple possibilities; and, ultimately, in the creative care that commonly characterizes both authors.
