The present master's project aims to describe in detail the conservation and restoration intervention carried out in thirty-four chairs belonging to the collection of the Palácio Nacional da Pena. Most of these pieces of furniture are visible in the permanent exhibition of the Palace, being in the Dining Room and forming part of the decorative furniture set of this hall. Purposely commissioned by King D. Fernando II from Gaspar, Armador & Estofador, Successors Barbosa & Costa (1867), according to the Palace records. This set, made of oak wood, features various carving techniques, its decorative motifs are related to hunting, and it is likely that King D. Fernando II chose this theme himself, due to his tastes acquired during his childhood. spentin the field. It should be noted that all chairs belonging to this set have the head of a different animal in the neck area. This intervention began in 2017, when I went to the Palácio Nacional da Pena, as a professor of the practical area of wood in the conservation and restoration course of the Escola Profissional de Recuperação do Património de Sintra (EPRPS), to choose a piece that had all the historical, cultural and artistic attributes, so that at the end of the 2017/2018 school year, it would be the proof of professional aptitude. Within the scope of this test, this set had all the necessary requirements for students to be able to learn, both the historical part and the know-how. Due to the high number of copies and due to their lack of maintenance, many of these chairs were in a poor state of conservation, most of which were in the palace reserves, located in the turret. Considering the high number of students, I intend in this project to present the methodology in which I was inspired, in order to face the difficulties presented both in terms of the students themselves, as well as the pieces themselves, in the end we had more gains than losses and that they had the motivation to understand, continue in this area and the know-how. In the final phase of this project, which began in 2017, I will intervene in two of these subjects, in which students did not have the specific qualifications to do so. Here I will document and record all the stepspt_PT
