The development of the high voltage (HV) system for TileCal’s photomultiplier tubes, as part of the upgrade of the High Luminosity Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC) at CERN, is nearing completion. Modifications for the final prototype HV system boards are currently underway. Before manufacturing the final prototypes, previous generation prototype boards were tested to evaluate their performance and functionality, and to determine what additional modifications should be made to the final prototypes before the boards enter the pre-production phase. These tests include stability, functionality, and testing with different types of passive and active loads on the HV outputs. The TileCal high voltage system for the HL-LHC upgrade is a remote solution based on the high voltage system currently in use in the detector. The new system reduces the number of components located within the TileCal, reducing its radiation exposure and simplifying the maintenance process. Some components are still subject to high radiation doses, requiring additional testing on these components, such as irradiation and burn-in tests, to evaluate their performance under operating conditions similar to those of the TileCal detector. With the development of the final prototypes, the control and monitoring system for the high voltage system in the laboratory was also modified. This required developing new software compatible with the hardware changes made to the final prototypes and capable of utilizing the new features of the latest boards. The new control system also allows for more efficient board calibration, which is necessary due to the large number of boards to be tested when production begins. Software for the calibration process was also developed. After the final prototypes are manufactured and calibrated, these boards must be tested before entering the pre-production phase. Their performance is evaluated and compared with previous generations of prototypes.
