| dc.description.abstract | Nos últimos anos, a atenção dada ao fenómeno da pobreza na sua globalidade tem aumentado substancialmente, com um crescente número de estudos sobre o tema, em que se inclui a análise ao rendimento e aos fenómenos de exclusão social. No entanto, o fenómeno da diferenciação da pobreza no território é um tema ainda pouco abordado, quer a nível europeu como nacional, sendo ainda poucos os estudos com foco na componente territorial, e nas diferenças existentes no que diz respeito a estes fenómenos. Assim, apesar deste ser um fenómeno ainda pouco estudado, existem evidências na literatura que permitem verificar que este é um tema relevante, uma vez que tanto a nível europeu como nacional, são apontadas diferenças entre a situação a que os indivíduos estão expostos tendo em conta o local onde residem. Deste modo, o foco deste Trabalho Final de Mestrado, é estudar a diferenciação dos fenómenos de pobreza tendo em conta a componente territorial no contexto da União Europeia e para Portugal de forma mais aprofundada. Para isso, foi utilizado um conjunto de dados que fazem parte do EU-SILC “European Union Statistics on Income and Living Conditions Survey”, que têm em conta uma variável que representa o grau de urbanização, que permite caracterizar o território considerando 3 tipologias territoriais distintas. Ao longo deste estudo, quer na análise efetuada para a União Europeia quer para Portugal, são claras as assimetrias existentes entre a tipologia rural/urbana. Nas áreas rurais, a população está mais exposta a situações de pobreza e exclusão social, sendo clara, principalmente para Portugal, a estagnação vivida nesta tipologia territorial. O estudo efetuado permite afirmar de forma clara, que o grau de urbanização do local onde o indivíduo reside influencia a forma como o mesmo é exposto à situação de pobreza e exclusão social. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | In the last few years, the attention given to the phenomenon of poverty in its global sense has increased substantially, with a growing number of studies on the subject, which include the analysis of income and the phenomenon of social exclusion. However, the differentiation of poverty along the territory is still a topic barely addressed, both at an european and national level, not existing many studies focusing on the territorial component, and on the differences between these phenomena at a territorial level. Despite the fact that this phenomenon is still poorly studied, there are evidence in the literature which confirm the relevance of the topic, since both at an european and national level there are differences pointed between the situation to which individuals are exposed to when having in account the territorial component. The focus of this Master´s Final Work, is to study the differentiation of poverty considering the territorial component at the context of the European Union and for Portugal in a more profound way. For that, it was considered the data from EU-SILC “European Union Statistics on Income and Living Conditions Survey”, which has in account a variable that represents the degree of urbanization, which allows to characterize the territory having in account 3 different territorial typologies. Throughout this study, both in the analysis for the European Union and for Portugal, the existence of asymmetries between the rural/urban typology are clear. In rural areas, population is more exposed to situations of poverty and social exclusion, being pretty clear, especially for Portugal, the stagnation faced in this territorial typology. With this study, it is possible to affirm that the degree of urbanization of the place where an individual lives influences the way in which he is exposed to poverty and social exclusion. | pt_PT |
