The sociodemographic changes that we have been witnessing in the last decades, not always have made the conciliation between different life roles that individuals play easy, thus having repercussions in their levels of satisfaction. One resource that can soothe the less positive impact in regards to the satisfaction with life roles is the existence of social support networks, in which individuals can find help to satisfy needs in daily or crisis situations. The present investigation has the goal of studying the relation between Perceived Social Support and Satisfaction with Life Roles, as well has presenting a comparative study in function of gender and marital status variables. For this purpose, the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support and the Satisfaction with Life Roles Scale were used and applied to a random sample of 249 working adults. The obtained results revealed a direct and very significant relation between the studied variables, except for the relation between the subscales Support from a Significant Other and Work Role Satisfaction, which did not reveal significance. The differences in function of gender and marital status in their majority did not reveal significance, therefore being not possible to confirm, in totality, the formulated investigation hypothesis. In the end, the present study’s contributions for practices and management of human resources, their limitations and possible guidelines for future investigations are discussed.
