Economia circular e sustentabilidade : o caso do setor automóvel em Portugal

| dc.description.abstract | A situação atual de alterações climáticas que atravessa o planeta Terra tem ganho mais relevância e tomado um lugar central nas agendas de organizações internacionais governamentais e não governamentais e levado estas a tomar medidas no sentido de mitigar a situação e controlar a sua progressão futura. Uma das indústrias que têm sido alvo de mais novas regras e regulamentações é a indústria automóvel com a UE recentemente a anunciar o fim da produção de veículos que emitam CO2 a partir de 2035 como parte do European Green Deal. Esta é, no entanto, apenas uma das muitas mudanças em curso num setor que tem sido pressionado para se tornar mais circular e sustentável quer na forma como produz, quer nos automóveis que fabrica e na forma como os automóveis e seus resíduos são descartados findo o seu período de vida útil. Esta dissertação de Mestrado procura demonstrar como está a decorrer o processo de transição para uma maior sustentabilidade e circularidade do setor automóvel em Portugal, setor este que é de uma grande importância no país, representando cerca de 5% do PIB nacional em volume de negócios e sendo um dos maiores setores exportadores do país. Os conceitos principais relacionados com o tema deste TFM: Economia Circular, transição energética e sustentabilidade, bem como a forma como estes se adaptam ao setor automóvel serão explorados neste TFM e será feita uma análise profunda às práticas de deposição e reciclagem/reutilização de diversos resíduos do setor automóvel que estão em prática em Portugal. Para além disso a sustentabilidade das fábricas automóveis portuguesas será escrutinada e serão discutidos os planos ambientais destas. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | The current situation of climate change that affects Planet Earth has gained relevance and taken a central spot in the agenda of international organizations, both governmental and non-governmental, and has made these take measures to mitigate the severity of the problem and control its future progression. One of the industries that’s been the target of many new rules and regulations is the automotive industry, with the EU recently announcing the end of the production of vehicles which emit CO2 emissions as part of the European Green Deal. This is, however, just one of many changes happening in a sector which has been pressured to become more circular and sustainable in the way it produces, in the vehicles that it makes and in the way the vehicles and its residues are discarded at the end of its life. This Master’s dissertation seeks to demonstrate how the transition process of the Portuguese automotive sector to a greater circularity and sustainability is coming along, minding that this is an industry of great importance to the country, representing around 5% of the national GDP in terms of business volume and being one of the country’s sectors that exports the most. The main concepts related to the theme of this dissertation: Circular Economy, energy transition and sustainability, as well as the way these adapt to the automotive industry will be explained in this dissertation and a deep analysis will be made to the practices of discarding and recycling/reutilization of various residues related to vehicles that are in practice in Portugal. Besides that, the sustainability of the Portuguese car factories will be scrutinized, and their environmental plans will be discussed. | pt_PT |
