Resumo(s)
O presente trabalho propõe uma reflexão sobre a relação entre
a produção do espaço construído e as relações de poder que
lhe são inerentes. No contexto de um país do global south, onde
urgem as alternativas aos assentamentos informais, pretendese
encontrar formas de resposta aos problemas identificados,
através das potencialidades locais. É explorada a participação
activa dos cidadãos na concepção do espaço construído, a
validação de processos de construção que se ajustem à realidade
local, e a versatilidade na evolução e apropriação dos espaços
propostos.
Localizada na ilha do Príncipe, em São Tomé e Príncipe, a roça
Porto Real encontra-se a cerca de 3 quilómetros da capital
Santo António. Trata-se de uma antiga estrutura agro-industrial
colonial, que se encontra desafecta do seu propósito original.
Após o seu abandono, os trabalhadores da roça continuaram a
habitá-la, sendo presentemente a casa de cerca de 400 pessoas.
Pretende-se, através da intervenção proposta, veicular valores
políticos, sociais, económicos e ambientais adequados à
realidade local.
ABSTRACT: The present work proposes a reflection on the relation between the production of built environment and the relations of power that are inherent to it. In the context of a global south country, where alternatives to informal settlements are urgent, it is intended to find ways of responding to the identified problems, through local potentialities. The active participation of citizens in the creation of the built space, the validation of construction processes that fit the local context, and the versatility in the evolution and appropriation of the proposed spaces are explored. Located in the island of Príncipe, in São Tomé e Príncipe, the Porto Real roça is about 3 kilometers away from the capital Santo António. It is an ex-colonial agro-industrial structure, which is disaffected from its original purpose. After its abandonment, the roça workers continued to inhabit it, being presently the house of about 400 people. It is intended, through the proposed intervention, to convey political, social, economic and environmental values that suit the local reality.
