With the growing importance of Positive Psychology in the world of People Management, different concepts still needing a deeper investigation have emerged. This thesis has the purpose of investigating optimism in an organizational context, verifying the impact that optimism has on the self-efficacy of young people who are starting their careers and later to study the possible relationship between optimism and the professional traineeships. To accomplish that task, a sample of 98 participants, aged 21-30, both sexes, has been selected. Optimism has been measured through a LOT-R questionnaire, whereas the self-efficiency was evaluated through the GSE scale. The results show that there is a difference between sexes on the optimism variable, where the male participants got better results. The relation between optimism and self-efficiency was also confirmed, as the most optimistic participants also showed higher levels of self-efficiency. There couldn’t be found any relevant data that proves a relation between the optimism variable and the traineeships. However, this study had some methodological constraints, including the size of the sample; these constraints will be discussed by the end of this thesis, alongside with some suggestions of future studies of the relation mentioned above.
