A educação é fundamental na composição da sociedade, em especial para os países em desenvolvimento, pois esta alimenta a esperança de um futuro melhor. Sabe-se que em Moçambique a rede escolar ainda é uma fragilidade, por isso, o presente trabalho visa contribuir para a melhoria deste setor. Com o intuito de projetar uma escola primária na cidade da Beira,a primeira instância deste trabalho foi conhecer o território, uma cidade cujo crescimento foi planeado até meados dos anos 70 do século XX, e que desde então tem vindo a crescer de forma orgânica. Este crescimento acelerado provocado pelo êxodo rural, ao qual, a cidade formal foi incapaz de dar resposta, culminou na origem dos assentamentos informais. A negação da tábua rasa como solução, para esta realidade urbana, levou ao estudo de princípios e estratégias de intervenção que valorizem e respeitem o direito à cidade, onde prevalece a máxima de construir no construído. Estes estudos fundamentaram o desenho da intervenção urbana onde se insere a escola, objeto do presente trabalho. Pretende-se que esta escola seja um Lugar de Transmissão do Saber Africano. Este propósito desencadeou um estudo multidisciplinar, no qual, abordaram-se temas como o papel da arquitetura na transmissão do conhecimento, a influência de modelos pedagógicos na organização de espaços de aprendizagem e a cultura de transmissão do conhecimento em contexto africano. O conjunto destes estudos deram origem ao projeto de uma nova escola primária no bairro do Esturro.
Education it is fundamental to the development of society, especially in developing countries, as this feeds the hope for better future. In Mozambique the school network still fragile, so, this work aims to contribute to the improvement of this sector, in order to creat a primary school in Beira city, the first instance of this work was to know the territory, Beira city growth was planned until the 70s and since then it has been growing organically, perhaps this accelerated growth caused by rural exodus, to which the formal city was unable to respond, culminated in the origin of informal settlements. The denial of the pink board as a solution for this urban reality led to the study of principles and intervention strategies that value and respect the rights of the city, where the maximum of building in the built prevails. This study it is bases on the design of the urban intervention where the school is included. The objective of this work it is intended that, school should be a place of transmission of African knowledge, this work purpose a multidisciplinary study in which we addressed whether we have the role of architecture in the transmission of knowledge, the influence of pedagogical models on the organisation of learning space and the cultural of knowledge transmission in the African context. The set of these studies gave rise to the project for a new primary school in the neighborhood of Esturro
