This final internship report “Chemotherapy and physical exercise” was carried out as part of Master’s Degree in Exercise and Health at the Faculty of Human Motricity, in collaboration with the Champalimaud Foundation, a pioneering institution in the area of oncology combined with physical exercise. The practice of physical exercise is recognized and regarded as an essential tool to be implemented in oncology. In this sense, the exercise physiologist must be able to intervene and actively participate in the work carried out within the multidisciplinary team that has embraced this project from the beginning, playing a crucial role in all phases of oncological treatment. Scientific evidence has demonstrated that the practice of physical exercise improves the side effects felt by patients, as well as preserving their health, physical fitness and quality of life throughout treatments, particularly on the main topic of my report, the chemotherapy. With this in mind, the internship allowed contact with different areas of intervention, including a target population made up of patients undergoing different treatments and with different objectives: hormone therapy, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. During the internship, a proposal was made to produce a document about chemotherapy and the benefits of physical exercise, which would be a contribution to the institution. The objectives set for the internship were achieved and were even exceeded.
