toda a envolvente arrabidina.
a escala territorial à escala do objeto.
preexistente -a vilegiatura.
The history of Portugal has a strong military component associated, and so architecture had the duty to create elements of national defense. These, over time, fell into disuse and were rejected, abandoned, and even vandalized. The intervention aims to rehabilitate the 7th Battery of Outão, in Setúbal, by giving it different programmatic uses to convert the military complex into an active place again. The most relevant structures of the complex were redeveloped - such as the battery, the Old Fort and the semi-buried building - consolidating the proposal with a new space to the Eastthe residences. All these elements are unified by a route with moments of contemplation, which connects the elements of the complex, to itself and to Arrábida This work represents an opportunity to understand the chosen site at different scales, from the territorial to the object scale. Having analysed the Coastal Defence Plan and the reports that led to the organization of the Coast Artillery Regiment (Barron Plan), as well as the study of the object's specific surroundings that led to the rescue of a pre-existing concept – Villegiatura. The 7th Battery and therefore the project, present themselves through a journey as they gain meaning in their continuity and in their ruptures - with the landscape, with memory and with Art.
