Este estudo tem como objectivo averiguar os factores de risco, os factores
protectores e a rede social dos imigrantes chineses em Portugal. Para este estudo
exploratório realizaram-se entrevistas semi-estruturadas e aplicou-se o mapa de rede
social a uma amostra de 20 imigrantes com uma média de tempo de permanência em
Portugal de 7,55 anos (DP= 7,77). A partir das categorias e dos indicadores que
surgiram da análise de conteúdo, procedeu-se à análise de cluster em 4 classes. Os
factores de risco que se salientaram foram a língua portuguesa, o afastamento da família
e amigos e diferenças culturais. Os factores protectores mais referidos foram a ajuda da
família/integração na comunidade chinesa, o clima de Portugal e a simpatia dos
portugueses. Relativamente à rede social, esta mostrou-se constituída maioritariamente
por sujeitos chineses.
À luz das normas culturais chinesas e dos resultados obtidos, analisar-se-á o
processo de adaptação destes imigrantes em Portugal. Implicações para a prática
comunitária e terapêutica serão também discutidas.
This study aims to explore risk factors, protective factors and the social network of Chinese immigrants in Portugal. For this exploratory study, semi-structured interviews were conducted and the social network map applied to a sample of 20 Chinese immigrants with an average of 7.55 years living in Portugal (DP=7.77). From the categories and indicators that arose from the content analysis, a cluster analysis was conducted organized by 4 clusters. The most preeminent risk factors were Portuguese language, separation from friends/family and cultural differences; the most relevant protective factors were help from family/integration within the Chinese community, Portugal’s climate and the kindness of Portuguese people. Regarding the social network, it showed to be mainly constituted by other Chinese individuals. By the Chinese cultural norms and the study’s results, the adaptation of Chinese immigrants to Portugal will be analysed. Implications for the therapeutic and community intervention will also be discussed.
