| dc.description.abstract | Atualmente, os Ucranianos constituem uma das comunidades imigrantes mais numerosas residentes no país. Apesar disso, e em virtude de ser um fluxo recente na realidade migratória de Portugal (apenas com origem entre o final do século passado e o início do atual), o número de estudos sobre a imigração Ucraniana, bem como os que focam as imagens que os nativos detêm acerca desta comunidade são ainda reduzidos. Assim, este trabalho de investigação procura descrever a integração dos imigrantes ucranianos em Portugal, e mais concretamente, analisar as representações destes construídas pelos Portugueses. A tese aborda tanto os conceitos temáticos fundamentais, como as teorias explicativas do fenómeno migratório, colocando um foco particular nas representações que os portugueses constroem acerca das comunidades imigrantes, utilizando para tal os resultados de estudos elaborados anteriormente. Foram ainda analisados aspetos como a evolução da imigração em Portugal, os elementos fundamentais das principais comunidades imigradas e as características básicas da Ucrânia enquanto Estado-nação. Posteriormente, foram estudados os perfis sociográficos dos cidadãos ucranianos, os contextos que justificaram a saída da Ucrânia e a imigração para Portugal, efectuando-se também uma análise da integração socioprofissional dos imigrantes no país. A base teórica desta investigação teve como suporte a bibliografia especializada sobre a temática, sendo que o recurso às estatísticas disponíveis foi realizado maioritariamente através de dados do INE e do SEF. Para além dos elementos provenientes destas fontes secundárias, a análise dos resultados refletiu também os resultados obtidos com a aplicação de instrumentos de recolha direta de informação, designadamente entrevistas aos imigrantes ucranianos residentes na AML e inquéritos a portugueses residentes igualmente nessa região. Concluiu-se, que os imigrantes ucranianos se sentem bem integrados em Portugal, e os portugueses possuem uma boa imagem sobre eles, tendo considerado enriquecedora a presença destes para a vida e multiculturalidade do país. A estes imigrantes, os portugueses associam o facto de serem pessoas com educação, empenho, competência, humildade, e principalmente, bons trabalhadores. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | Abstract: Currently, Ukrainians are one of the most numerous immigrant communities living in Portugal. Despite this, and due to the fact of being a recent flow on the migratory situation of the country (only from the end of the last century and the beginning of the current one), the number of studies about Ukrainian immigration, as well as works that focus on the images that natives have of this community are still quite limited in number. Therefore, this research work aims to describe the integration of Ukrainian immigrants in Portugal, but more specifically, to analyze their representations built by Portuguese. Firstly, the dissertation addresses both the thematic concepts, as the explanatory theories of migration. These are then followed by the analysis of previous studies with particular emphasis on the representations of immigrant communities by the Portuguese. Furthermore, issues like the evolution of immigration in the country, the main immigrant communities in Portugal, and the characterization of Ukraine as a country were also studied. Afterwards, the sociographic profiles of Ukrainian citizens, the contexts that justified their departure from Ukraine and immigration to Portugal were analyzed, as well as their socioprofessional integration in the country. The theoretical basis of this research was supported by the specialized literature about the subject, and the use of available statistics was accomplished mainly through data from Instituto Nacional de Estatística and Serviço de Estrangeiros e Fronteiras. Beyond the elements from these secondary sources, the analysis of the results reflected, on the one hand, the application of interviews to Ukrainian immigrants living in the Metropolitan Area of Lisbon and on the other hand, the application of surveys to the Portuguese people living in that area. We were able to conclude, that Ukrainian immigrants feel well integrated in Portugal, and Portuguese people have a good image of them, considering their presence enriching to life and to multiculturalism of the country. To these immigrants, Portuguese associate that they are citizens with education, commitment, competence, humility, and especially good working people. | pt_PT |
