João Rodrigues, celebrizado pelo epíteto Tçuzu (jap. tsuji, intérprete), foi um dos mais destacados jesuítas portugueses que missionaram na Ásia Oriental na transição do século XVI para o século XVII. Deverá ter sido ainda o primeiro europeu – e por muito tempo também o único – a visitar e a descrever as duas Cortes imperiais de Miyako (Kyoto) e Pequim.
João Rodrigues, known by the epithet Tçuzu (jap. tsuji, interpreter), was one of the most prominent Portuguese Jesuits who missioned in East Asia in the transition from the 16th to the 17th century. He must also have been the first European – and for a long time also the only one – to visit and describe the two Imperial Courts of Miyako (Kyoto) and Beijing.
