The aim of the present study is to analyze the effect of flexible work arrangements on employeesā well-being. For that purpose, we studied the relationship between flexible work arrangements and life satisfaction, as well as the mediating role of work engagement in the relationship between these variables. A total of 119 answers from IT consultant workers in Portugal were analyzed. The results indicate that the implementation of flexible work arrange-ments is not capable to improve work engagement and life satisfaction. The findings showed a positive relationship between work engagement and life satisfaction, with work engagement being a fundamental factor for the employeesā well-being. There was no evidence found to support the mediating role of work engagement in the relationship between flexible work ar-rangements and life satisfaction. These results contribute to the literature by allowing a better understanding of how important it is for organizations to have a support culture, that supports the use of flexible work arrangements, when implementing these practices, as well as the im-portance of investing in work engagement, to improve employeesā well-being. Some practical implications, as well as limitations and suggestions for future studies are presented.
