For this final master’s project, a "continuity" project was chosen, building on the work done in Integrated Project III – rehabilitation and expansion of the Lisbon Military Museum (MML), in Santa Apolónia. Through an in-depth analysis of the museum and its context, both on-site and through documentation, it was determined that the MML required restructuring in its museological layout; adjustments to the way natural light illuminated the rooms, which affected the exhibition flow; and improvements to the surrounding parking area, which prevented it from becoming a vibrant urban gathering space. Therefore, a program was designed to address these obstacles by developing a proposal to rehabilitate the surrounding space. The methodological principle of Boito (1883) was applied – the attitude of "formal specialization" and the distinction between the built heritage of the past and the contemporaneity of the new solution, which should exhibit a design language of its era, defending the principle of "not deceiving history." To contribute to the Collective Memory within the MML, a program was established that takes into account the surrounding historical, museological, and community spaces. Internally, a space was proposed with a special focus on how light, materiality, and architecture can create a pleasant exhibition and living environment.
