Imigração, flexibilidade e precariedade laboral: o caso dos imigrantes brasileiros em Portugal

O principal objetivo deste texto é aprofundar o conhecimento sobre os modos de inserção dos imigrantes brasileiros no mercado de trabalho em Portugal, tendo em conta as modalidades flexíveis e precárias da relação laboral. Com base num inquérito a uma amostra de imigrantes brasileiros realizado em 2009, são estudadas algumas variáveis do emprego até agora pouco exploradas. É o caso das relações contratuais, pagamento de impostos e contribuições, níveis de rendimento e horas de trabalho semanais. São ainda revistos os níveis e características do desemprego ao longo do percurso migratório e na atualidade. Em todos os casos são identificadas as características dos imigrantes que mais se relacionam com os padrões de flexibilidade e precariedade laboral, demonstrando a sua grande vulnerabilidade nesta área.
"Immigration, flexibility and precarious work: the case of Brazilian immigrants in Portugal" . The main objective of this article is to study the knowledge about the modes of incorporation in the labour market of Brazilian immigrants in Portugal, taking into account the flexible arrangements of employment relations. By using data collected through a survey of Brazilian immigrants carried out in 2009, the article deals with employment characteristics insufficiently dealt with until now. This is the case of contratual arrangements, payment of social contributions and taxes, income levels and weekly labour hours. Also the levels and characteristics of unemployment are studied, both during the migration trajectory and at the moment of survey. In all cases the main immigrants’ characteristics related with flexible arrangements are reviewed, confirming their high vulnerability in this area.
