In the recent last decades, there have been changes in the workforce and family structure, leading to changes in traditional roles, as well as a greater number of individuals of both sexes, with responsibilities in employment and in family. Alongside this issue, it has been observed an increase in work-related stress, due to various constraints of today's work environments, such as pressure of time and the existence of temporary contracts, as well as the experience of the need to reconcile the professional and family roles. Considering the importance of both concepts, it is proposed to study the relationship between Work-Family Conflict and Professional Stress, and comparative analysis of the results by sex, number and age of children in a sample of 60 workers of a Public Administration sector organization. It was applied two instruments - the Work- Family Conflict Scale and the Job Stress Survey, the results showed a direct relationship between the two variables under study. The differences across gender, number and age of children were not significant, so it was not possible to confirm, in full, the research hypothesis initially formulated. In the end the contributions of this study to the practices of human resource management, that facilitate the integration and performance of the two roles are discussed and presented its limitations and suggestions for future research.
