Abstract(s)
A importância do estudo da adolescência prende-se com o facto de cada vez
mais se estar a adoptar a perspectiva, de que para além de um período de grandes
mudanças e factores de risco, este também é um período de grandes oportunidades de
desenvolvimento. Será importante, então, estudar os factores que mais se podem
correlacionar com o desenvolvimento saudável dos adolescentes e com um maior nível
de bem-estar nos mesmos. Dotar os jovens de ferramentas e competências que lhes
permitam ultrapassar as dificuldades e prosseguirem um percurso pessoal e social
eficaz, deverá ser uma preocupação de todos os que trabalham com esta faixa etária.
O presente estudo procura então avaliar a relação entre a promoção de
competências pessoais e sociais de forma prolongada no tempo e o nível de bem-estar
psicológico em jovens com idades compreendidas entre os 12 e os 19 anos. Este estudo
foi dirigido a jovens de risco, provenientes de um meio em risco de exclusão social,
onde são muitos os factores de risco a que estão sujeitos. Comparou-se jovens que
usufruíram de promoção de competências pessoais e sociais através de actividades
semi-estruturadas, adaptadas aos jovens e às suas necessidades, decorridas num Espaço
Jovem de uma IPSS (Instituição Particular de Solidariedade Social) e jovens da mesma
comunidade que não usufruíram desta intervenção.
Utilizando a Escala de Avaliação do Bem-Estar Psicológico na Adolescência
(EBEPA), verificou-se que os jovens que usufruíram destas actividades apresentaram
níveis de bem-estar psicológico global mais elevados do que jovens que não usufruem
do mesmo tipo de intervenção promocional. Jovens com mais competências pessoais e
sociais parecem registar então maiores níveis de bem-estar psicológico.
The importance of the adolescence study is associated to the fact that more and more one adopts the perspective that besides a period of big changes and elements of risk, this is also a period of great opportunities of growth. In that case, it will be important to study the facts that can be more related with a healthy up growth of adolescents and with a better situation of their well-being. To give the youngsters the implements and abilities that allows them to overcome the difficulties and to follow a personal and social efficient stage, which must be a concern of everybody that works with this age group. The actual study tries to evaluate the relation between the Promoting Personal and Social Abilities on terms of a continues period and the level of a psychological well-being between youngsters with the comprised ages between 12 and 19 years. This study was directed to youngsters who are at risk proceeding from an environment which carries a risk of social exclusion where exist many unsafe facts to which they are exposed to. Youngsters have been compared who make use of the progress of the personal and social abilities through semi structured activities, adjusted to the youngsters and their needs which took place in a youth centre of a IPSS (Private Institute for Social Solidarity) and youngsters from the same community who did not make use of this intervention. Using the scale of valuation of psychological well-being in the adolescence (EBEPA) you find out that the youngsters who are making use of these activities are usually showing higher levels of general psychological well-being, than the ones who do not make use of the same type of promoted procurements. Youngsters with more personal and social abilities, they seem to register higher levels of psychological wellbeing.
