Esta dissertação consiste num estudo sobre o processo de escrita dos ensaios «Duas semanas sem Yardley» e «Sombras sobre a mata ao fundo» de M. S. Lourenço. Com vista a traçar a história da criação dos dois textos, analisei os testemunhos textuais existentes seguindo uma ordem cronológica: manuscrito do autor, publicação jornalística, provas para a primeira edição, primeira e segunda edições.
Partindo dos métodos usados pela crítica genética e pela variantística italiana, procurei identificar as alterações introduzidas em cada testemunho e desse modo compreender o quadro geral das intervenções autorais que ditaram a transformação e (re)criação do texto ao longo do tempo.
Abstract: The purpose of this work is to study the writing process of the literary essays «Duas semanas sem Yardley» and «Sombras sobre a mata ao fundo», by M. S. Lourenço. In order to reconstruct the creative itinerary of these texts, I analyzed the document witnesses according to their chronological order: manuscript, newspaper publication, proofs for the first edition, the first and then the second editions. The theoretical background of this study results from a blend of different traditions such as genetic criticism and ‘variantistica’. I identified and studied the changes introduced in each testimony in the attempt of understanding the main authorial interventions and therefore the meaning of the text's reworking over time.
