Resumo(s)
No presente Projeto Final de Mestrado, pretende-se estudar
soluções de desenvolvimento para fazer face às atuais descontinuidades
urbanas e sociais presentes em Santo António, Ilha do Príncipe, sendo
apresentados sob forma de uma proposta de intervenção.
O tema proposto aborda as três escalas de um projeto de
Arquitetura na cidade. Primeiro aborda-se a escala da cidade,
pretendendo-se criar um plano que resulte numa nova imagem urbana da
cidade e que unifique de um modo coeso as duas malhas urbanas préexistentes,
a colonial e a pós-colonial. De seguida será abordada a escala
do quarteirão, onde será estudado o seu funcionamento e em que sentido
a criação de um quarteirão tipologicamente permeável com um
equipamento de apoio às suas habitações no seu interior. Definidos os
quarteirões a escala da habitação será a última a ser estudada, onde se
pretende introduzir na cidade o conceito de arquitetura evolutiva,
baseado na arquitetura vernacular existente, com diversas tipologias,
tendo como principal objetivo prever uma futura expansão do módulo
habitacional.
Por fim será criado um novo equipamento de escala urbana que
terá um grande destaque na nova imagem urbana da cidade. Deste modo
o novo equipamento será o Centro Cultural do Príncipe, que tem como
principal objetivo promover e assegurar a cultura para todos os habitantes
da ilha, através de diversos temas e atividades.
Esta proposta foi desenvolvida tendo em conta vários aspetos em
consideração como os principais edifícios atuais da cidade, mas também
uma necessidade de desenvolver um projeto com base nos recursos
naturais da ilha e reinventar a arquitetura vernacular, de acordo com as
necessidades da comunidade, procurando integrá-los no desenho das
novas estruturas e na paisagem natural tropical em que se insere.
In this Final Master's Project, it is intended to study development solutions to face the current urban and social discontinuities present in Santo António, Ilha do Príncipe, being presented in the form of an architecture intervention proposal. The proposed theme studies the three scales of an architecture project in the city. First, the urban scale of the city, with the intention of creating a new plan that results in an urban image of the city and that unifies in a cohesive way the two pre-existing urban networks, the colonial and the post-colonial. Next, the block scale will be approached, where it will be studied and in what way the creation of a typologically open block with equipment to support your homes inside. Once the blocks are defined, the housing scale will be the last to be studied, where the intention is to introduce the concept of evolutionary architecture in the city, based on the existing vernacular architecture, with different types, with the main objective of predicting a future expansion of the housing module. Finally, a new urban scale equipment will be created that will have a great prominence in the new urban image of the city. In this way the new equipment will be the Cultural Center of Príncipe, whose main objective is to promote and ensure culture for all inhabitants of the island, through various themes and activities. This proposal was developed taking into account several aspects being considered as the main current buildings in the city, but also a need to develop a project based on the island's natural resources and reinvent vernacular architecture, according to the needs of the community, seeking to integrate them in the design of the new structures and in the tropical natural landscape in which it is inserted.
