envolvimento no conflito interparental.
segurança emocional, os adolescentes responderam ao questionário Security in the
Interparental Subsystem Scales.
ansiedade do pai.
conflito e a psicopatologia parental, o que é consistente com a literatura existente;
The present study investigated the association between interparental conflict and the adolescent's involvement in it, analyzing the mediating role of the psychopathology of parents, including symptoms of anxiety, depression and hostility. The differences between boys and girls in the involvement in interparental conflict were also analyzed. The study involved 264 families, married or in non-marital partnership, made up of father, mother and adolescent son (792 participants). The Inventory of Psychopathological Symptoms was applied to the parents, in order to evaluate the presence of symptoms of anxiety, depression and hostility. To evaluate marital conflict, it was applied to O'Leary Porter Scale regarding parents' perception of the frequency with which marital conflict occurs in the presence of the children. In order to analyze the involvement in the conjugal conflict through the dimensions of emotional security, adolescents answered the questionnaire Security in the Interparental Subsystem Scales. The results indicate an indirect relation between the conjugal conflict and the adolescent's involvement, mediated through the anxiety of the father. The results also indicated a direct association between conflict and parental psychopathology, which is consistent with the existing literature; direct effects between parental psychopathology (anxiety and depression) and involvement in conflict; and a direct relationship between interparental conflict and the involvement of children. No differences were found in involvement in interparental conflict for boys and girls.
