The article reflects on the democratization and access to visual language arts at the Municipal School Santa Luzia do Lobato, located in the popular community of the city of Salvador / Bahia, from the observation of the lack of supply and interest of students in relation to visual arts and aesthetic codes. Based on a literature review, this study aims to contribute new significant methodological foundations of teaching / learning in visual arts, in order to enable the visual literacy of students in their daily lives
