Abstract(s)
Neste trabalho é apresentado o conjunto de cerâmica de tipo Kuass recuperado durante as escavações efectuadas na área do Teatro Romano de Lisboa. Trata-se de um conjunto reduzido, com apenas quatro exemplares, mas cuja importância é inegável considerando que corresponde a uma das áreas mais longínquas da fachada ocidental atlântica onde se documentaram estes materiais de cariz helenístico. A cronologia proposta para o conjunto é também relevante, uma vez que estes artefactos parecem ter chegado a Lisboa num momento muito tardio, provavelmente já relacionado com a reintegração deste território nos circuitos comerciais de larga escala durante a fase romano-republicana (segunda metade do século II a inícios do século I a.C.).
In this paper we present the Kuass ware assemblage recovered during the excavations that took place in Lisbon´s Roman Theatervarea. The set is small, with only four fragments, but its importance is indisputable considering it is one of the most distant areas in the Western Atlantic Iberian Peninsula where these “Hellenistic” artifacts were found. The chronology we propose for these fragments is also relevant, considering that these vessels seem to have arrived to Lisbon during latter times, probably in the framework of the reintegration of the Western areas in the large-scale commercial circuits of the Roman Republican Period (2nd half ot the 2nd century / early 1st century BC).
