Diminui o risco de queda ao melhorar os resultados do teste físico Timed Up and Go (TUG).
Rheumatology is the area devoted to rheumatic diseases and encompasses a variety of musculoskeletal and systemic dysfunctions, with rheumatoid arthritis being a chronic autoimmune inflammatory joint disease involving the small joints of the hands, wrists, knees, Tarsus and feet, causing joint destruction and functional disability, being more frequent in women. Patients with rheumatoid arthritis have joint inflammation in the early stages, and may evolve (if inadequately treated) to joint deformations (later stages), due to the inflammation that develops with destruction of cartilage and bone erosions. The internship at the Portuguese Institute of Rheumatology allowed the improvement and consolidation of competencies to promote, design and apply physical exercise programs, such as the 8-week home program applied, preventing the occurrence or worsening of the disease and disability. At the level of the professional intervention, it allowed to improve and consolidate the performance of the functions with populations from moderate to high risk. After the home program, there were changes in pain interference in the patient's life, in the difficulty of performing activities of daily living, and in the flexibility of upper and lower limbs, improving the results. Decreases the risk of falls by improving the results of the Timed Up and Go physical test (TUG).
