| dc.description.abstract | A Sereia é uma das várias novelas passionais escritas por Camilo Castelo Branco. Este tipo de narrativa camiliana é caracterizado pelo conflito entre os protagonistas que pretendem viver o seu direito a amar e as regras impostas quer pela família, quer pela sociedade, quer mesmo pela religião. Daqui resulta uma narrativa plena de processos que visam demonstrar e intensificar o sofrimento resultante da situação, que não raro termina com a morte dos heróis. A Sereia tem ainda a característica de ter como fonte um manuscrito do século XVIII, descoberto no princípio do século XX. O objectivo do nosso trabalho é analisar a construção do trágico nesta novela, não descurando nem a tradição grega, nem a tradição romântica da tragédia. O estudo encontra-se estruturado em dois capítulos fundamentais: no primeiro, ter-se-á em conta as questões teóricas do estudo da tragédia e do trágico, na tradição grega e na tradição romântica, separadamente; no segundo capítulo, a atenção recairá sobre o estudo d’A Sereia. Atentar-se-á primeiramente no narrador, bem como na condução de leitura que este realiza e os processos utilizados para comprovar a verdade do que narra. Outros elementos exteriores às categorias trágicas, mas que auxiliam na construção do trágico, serão analisados, como os paratextos da novela camiliana. Seguidamente, analisaremos quatro categorias trágicas e a construção destas na novela dada à estampa em 1865. | por |
| dc.description.abstract | Abstract: A Sereia is one of the several passion novels written by Camilo Castelo Branco. This kind of camilian narrative is characterized by the conflict among its characters, wishing to live their right to love and the rules imposed either by relatives, the society or religion. Based on this arises a narrative filled with processes which aim to demonstrate and intensify the suffering of the situation, that most of the times ends with the death of the main characters. A Sereia has also the peculiar aspect of having as source a manuscript of the 18th century, found in the beginning of the 20th century. The goal of this essay is to analyse the building of the tragedy in this novel, without forgetting neither the Greek, nor the Romantic tragedy. The essay is structured in two main chapters: on the first, we will take into account, theoretical aspects regarding the study of the tragedy and tragic, both in the Greek and Romantic tradition separately; on the second chapter, our attention will focus on the study of A Sereia. We will concentrate our interest on the narrator, as well as on the way he leads the reading and the processes used to prove that what he says is true. Other unconnected aspects with the tragic categories, but which help in the construction of tragic, will be taken into account, as paratexts of the camilian novel. Afterwards, we will analyse four tragic categories and their construction in Camilo’s novel. | por |
