A inserção profissional dos recém-licenciados é do interesse da educação mas também da
economia e é já objecto de muitos estudos de cariz sociológico.
No presente trabalho, com o objectivo de analisar as expectativas de inserção, situa-se a
análise no momento que antecede a inserção profissional. As principais interrogações a que
pretende responder consistem em verificar se as expectativas de inserção profissional são
influenciadas pela origem sociocultural dos alunos, mas também, se se diferenciam
consoante a escola que frequentam.
Existiu a preocupação"de procurar uma definição do conceito de "expectativa", de conhecer
os ênfoques dos estudos sobre inserção profissional dos jovens ao longo do tempo, de
analisar os contornos da problemática em análise e de apresentar, em traços largos, uma
síntese da evolução recente do ensino superior e do sistema de apoio social aos alunos
daquele nível de ensino.
Realizou-se um estudo empírico em três escolas de ensino superior privado, procurando
verificar se os alunos se diferenciavam pela escola e pela origem sociocultural nos seus
percursos de ensino, profissional, na existência de modelos de referência, no conhecimento
que têm sobre o mercado de trabalho e nas suas expectativas de inserção profissional.
Labour market entry is an educational issue but also of economical interest and is object of study of many sociological invéstigations. The focus of this research, pretending to analyse student's labour expectations, is prcvious to that moment. The most important questions it aims to answer are if labour expectations depends on students social and cultural background, but also, if school environment is also determinant on them. It searches for an "expectation" definition concept, reviews the mainstream of previous studies about school-to-work transition over the years, examines the issue in its most important parts, shows the most recent transformations in the high school brief history and also the evolution of the financial aid system to high school students. It was developed a research in three private high schools, trying to know if students are different by school and social origins in their school and professional courses, role models, knowledge about labour market and in their professional expectations.
