Os painéis de Lima de Freitas e a memória dos mitos de Lisboa

O vertiginoso crescimento e complexificação das cidades, acompanhados da evolução tecnológica acelerada e progressiva, levou a ruturas sucessivas com a memória tanto dos lugares e patrimónios como da identidade dos povos. Propõe-se uma redescoberta da cidade, neste caso de Lisboa, partindo dos painéis de azulejos de Lima de Freitas e através de uma aplicação móvel baseada na web.
Numa contextualização teórica, apresentam-se quatro grandes nomes da azulejaria e cerâmica da segunda metade do século XX com obra em Lisboa, artistas multifacetados, em busca da especificidade do contributo de Lima de Freitas para a Arte Portuguesa. De “pintor incómodo”, Lima empreende um percurso artístico que tirou partido das suas pesquisas sobre a Arte e a imagem e das ilustrações de clássicos da Literatura, passando “da revolta à ascese”, ou seja, do mundo da injustiça e crítica social a uma progressiva interiorização que o levou a uma busca pelo transcendente implícito no “imaginal”. A grande obra pública final – os painéis de azulejos da Estação de Caminhos-de-ferro do Rossio – é o culminar das suas pesquisas e síntese quase perfeita da série de pinturas intitulada Mitolusismos. Analisam-se iconologicamente dez dos catorze painéis, assim como a figura lendária associada e as suas ligações a lugares de Lisboa.
Por fim, numa vertente prática, procura-se apresentar uma forma de comunicar o património para que apontam os painéis de uma maneira rápida e intuitiva. Propõe-se uma aplicação móvel baseada na web, cujo protótipo visual é o objeto final da dissertação, que daria a conhecer os painéis e o património associado a cada figura, sugerindo ou permitindo que o utilizador crie percursos pela cidade. Algumas questões inerentes ao funcionamento da aplicação e à escolha e criação dos conteúdos são abordadas.
The vertiginous growth and complexification of cities, accompanied by accelerated and progressive technological evolution, has led to successive disruptions with the memory of both places and heritage as well as peoples’ identities. A rediscovery of the city is proposed, in this case of Lisbon, based on the Lima de Freitas tile panels and through a web-based mobile app. In a theoretical context, four great names of tile and ceramic arts are presented, from the second half of the twentieth century, with works in Lisbon, multifaceted artists, seeking the specificity of Lima de Freitas's contribution to Portuguese Art. From an “inconvenient painter”, Lima embarks on an artistic journey that has taken advantage of his research on art and image and the illustration of classic literature, from “revolt to asceticism”, that is, from the world of injustice and social criticism to an increasing interiorization that led him to a search for the transcendent implicit in the “imaginal”. The final major public work – the tile panels of the Rossio Railway Station – is the culmination of his research and near-perfect synthesis of the series of paintings entitled Mitolusismos. Ten of the fourteen panels are iconologically analyzed, as well as its associated legendary figure and links to places in Lisbon. Finally, in a practical aspect, it is sought to present a way of communicating the heritage that the panels pointed out to, in a quick and intuitive manner. A web-based mobile application is proposed, whose visual prototype is the final object of the dissertation. It would showcase the panels and the heritage associated with each figure, suggesting or enabling the user to create routes throughout the city. Some matters concerning the applications’s operation and the choice and creation of content are addressed.
