Abstract(s)
As escavações arqueológicas levadas a efeito em Monte Molião desde 2006 permitiram recolher um abundante espólio, entre o qual se destaca a cerâmica comum. Nos níveis correspondentes à ocupação romana do povoado, concretamente nos de época imperial, surgiram fragmentos de vasos que, pelas características das pastas e dos tratamentos das superfícies, bem como pelas morfologias, pudemos associar a importações gaulesas. Trata-se do que, na bibliografia arqueológica, é conhecido por “cerâmica caulinítica”. Neste conjunto, não especialmente abundante, dominam, de forma esmagadora, os jarros de boca trilobada, cuja função seria conter e servir líquidos, mas que podem também ter sido usados como fervedores. As oficinas do vale do Ródano foram, quase seguramente, os centros exportadores dos materiais encontrados no sítio algarvio, correspondendo a exportações que, de acordo com os dados estratigráficos, decorreram entre o final do século I e o século II.
The archaeological excavations carried out in Monte Molião since 2006 allowed to collect an abundant set of ceramics, among which the common ware stands out. At the levels corresponding to the Roman occupation, particularly those of the imperial period, there are fragments of vessels which, due the fabric and the forms, could be associated with Gallic imports. This is what, in the archaeological literature, is known as “kaolinitic ware”. In this group, not especially abundant, the jars are the best represented form. Their function would be to contain and serve liquids, but which may also have been used as boilers. The Rhone valley workshops were almost certainly the export centers of the ceramics found on the Algarve site, exports which, according to stratigraphic data, occur from the end of the first century to the second century.
