| dc.description.abstract | Esta dissertação aborda as manifestações de arquitetura popular na Gândara, e dá particular relevo à Casa Tipo Gandaresa: a materialização mais significativa da cultura desta região portuguesa da Beira Litoral. A sua caracterização, e a análise do seu valor, serve de mote para relacioná-la e discuti-la à luz da teoria da reabilitação e da teoria da arquitetura, por vezes concordantes, mas muitas vezes antagónicas. A questão central trata a preservação e a valorização deste património cultural e arquitetónico, especialmente face aos desafios impostos pelas transformações geradas pela revolução industrial e pela globalização, que ameaçam a integridade e a autenticidade das cidades pré-industriais. Embora centrada nesta região específica, a dissertação procura atingir uma dimensão mais universal do que as suas fronteiras. Os objetivos gerais passam por confirmar a existência, e o valor, da arquitetura na Gândara e explorar em que medida pode a tradição servir o arquiteto e o projeto contemporâneo. Nesse sentido, o trabalho visa contextualizar a região, descrever a arquitetura presente no território, compreender a sua metamorfose, e propor formas de intervenção e de apropriação, que respeitem esta herança arquitetónica através do seu valor universal. Para tal, através das fontes bibliográficas e levantamento fotográfico, que incluiu a análise direta de exemplares da Casa Tipo Gandaresa, foi possível uma avaliação crítica das fontes e a identificação dos principais aspetos a serem investigados. A análise revelou a complexidade da dimensão cultural, construtiva, funcional e estética do objeto de estudo, destacando a urgência das intervenções de conservação que priorizem a integridade e a longevidade das estruturas. Reconheceu-se que a Casa Tipo Gandaresa reúne um importante conjunto de valores que definem e sustentam a identidade cultural da Gândara. A sua preservação envolve a dimensão física, mas também da dimensão não material, que ajuda a garantir a continuidade e a autenticidade deste património, tanto na pré-existência como na construção contemporânea. Em suma, o trabalho aponta a importância de uma abordagem integrada e que consiga balancear a tradição com a inovação e vice-versa. Considerando a amplitude do tema, o estudo reconhece ainda a necessidade de mais pesquisas multidisciplinares para esclarecer questões não endereçadas. | pt |
| dc.description.abstract | This dissertation addresses the manifestations of popular architecture in Gândara, and places particular emphasis on the Casa Tipo Gandaresa: the most significant culture materialization from this Portuguese region in Beira Litoral. Its characterization and the analysis of its values serve as a motto for relating and discussing it in the light of rehabilitation and architecture theory, which are sometimes in agreement but often antagonistic. The central issue concerns the preservation and enhancement of this cultural and architectural heritage, especially in the face of challenges posed by transformations brought about by the industrial revolution and globalization, which threaten the integrity and authenticity from pre-industrial cities. Although focused on this specific region, the dissertation seeks to reach a more universal dimension than its borders. The main goals are to confirm the existence and value of architecture in Gândara and to explore the extent to which tradition can serve the architect and contemporary design. In this sense, the work aims to contextualize the region, describe the architecture observed in the territory, understand its metamorphosis, and propose forms of intervention and appropriation that respect its architectural heritage through its universal value. To this purpose, through bibliographic sources and photographic surveys, which included direct analysis of examples of the Gandaresa Type House, it was possible to conduct a critical evaluation of the sources and identify the main aspects to be investigated. The analysis revealed the complexity of the cultural, constructive, functional, and aesthetic dimensions from the study object, highlighting the urgency of conservation interventions that prioritize the integrity and longevity of the structures. It was recognized that the Casa Tipo Gandaresa encompasses an important set of values that define and sustain the cultural identity from this region. Its preservation involves the physical aspects, but also the immaterial dimension, which helps ensure his continuity and authenticity, both in pre-existence and contemporary construction. In summary, the work shows the importance of an integrated approach that balances tradition with innovation and vice versa. Given the breadth of the topic, the study also acknowledges the need for further multidisciplinary research to address unresolved issues. | en |
