The exposure to noisy environments is a factor that affects not only the wellness, but also other constraints such as health, productivity and communication. In the classroom, this issue isn’t an exception. The interaction between the different actors in the space creates sound sources that interfere with the one that should be the main incentive in a classroom: the teacher’s speech. This research project looks for the resolution of existing problems in the school environment, since 5th to 9th grade, associated with reverberation. Using a methodology of active research, the main objective is investigate if the creation of a new typology of furniture could solve the problem of acoustics in a specific interior space, once the acoustic influences considerably the performance of people in fulfil tasks. Throughout the investigation were examined some cases wherein is demonstrated the importance of the room acoustics, as well as its interference in the environment under study. It’s also studied the current market in the areas of project development, so as emphasizing the relevance of this research. It was found, since then, that the creation of furniture with a new skill – the acoustics – could be a good opportunity for innovation in equipment design. In the practical application of the knowledge acquired, it was considered that it should be designed for the ears and it carries through the investigation and corroboration of this issue. So, it’s intended that in the end of the project it is confirmed that improving the acoustic conditions through furniture it’s possible and it will enhance substantially the conditions of life of its users, particularly teachers and students that are integrated in the school degrees approachedpor
