O lugar à margem da cidade

A frente ribeirinha de Almada perspetiva-se como um
território singular no contexto metropolitano. A relação deste
lugar com o rio Tejo sofreu várias fases de aproximação e
afastamento ao longo do tempo devido à ocupação e
posterior abandono desta frente por atividades sobretudo
ligadas à indústria, moldando os seus limites aos vários
paradigmas e vontades de refazer cidade. Atualmente surge
a necessidade de reativar esta relação perdida, através de
uma descoberta sobre a identidade e o sentido deste lugar,
revertendo a rotura entre a cidade e a sua margem, cedendo
a este espaço novos conteúdos capazes de perdurar no
tempo.
Integrando a estruturação do projeto, fará parte uma reflexão
sobre as pré-existências neste território, bem como uma
análise sobre limites, vazios, e outros elementos urbanos
que se constituem como oportunidades num processo de
requalificação e criação de novas centralidades.
Este espaço constitui uma oportunidade para refletir sobre
questões ligadas à reabilitação do Património Industrial, à
manutenção da sua memória e em que medida estes podem
ser reintegrados nas cidades.
Com vista à salvaguarda de memórias e práticas associadas
a este lugar, pretende-se que a água seja o elemento
catalisador do espaço público, reativando a estreita relação
deste lugar com a margem.
Assim, espera-se que a solução de projeto encontrada
permita a compatibilização dos vários tempos contidos no
lugar com uma nova existência formal e funcional.
ABSTRACT: The river front of Almada is envisioned as an unique territory in the metropolitan context. The relationship between this place and Tejo river has undergone several stages of approach and distancing over time due to the occupation and subsequent abandonment of this waterfront by activities mostly related to industry, shaping its limits to the various paradigms and wills to redo the city. Nowadays there is the need to reignite this lost relationship through the discovery of the identity and meaning of this place, reversing the rupture between the city and the river margin, yielding this space new content that is able to last. Integrating the structuring of the project, a reflexion will be included on pre-existing buildings in this territory, as well as an analysis of limits, voids, and other urban elements that represent opportunities in a process of requalification and creation of new centralities. This place sets an opportunity for reflection on questions regarding the rehabilitation of the Industrial Heritage, the maintenance of its memory and the possibility of their reintegration in the cities. In order to preserve memories and practices associated with this place, it is intended that water will be the catalyzing element of the public space, reactivating the close relationship of this site with the river margin. Thus, it is expected that the designed solution allows the compatibilizaty of the various times contained in the place with a new formal and functional existence.
