The San Sebastian Fortress is one of those monuments where at first glance we can see its grandeur, not only for its size, but for the history and symbolism behind it. One of the largest and most beautiful examples of 16th century military architecture on the east coast of Africa. Located in the Mozambique Island, it has become a great tourist attraction and is a symbolic place for the inhabitants of the Island as it shelters them in vulnerable moments. After a closer contact with the fortress, there is a need to give it the due value and glow that it deserves. Combining the needs of the community and the need to develop the island's tourism sector, we propose the redevelopment of this magnificent monument, using traditional construction techniques and the construction of a structure to support the island's commerce. For a better intervention, the Island as a whole and the constructions in the two types of cities that exist on it were studied: the Stone City and the Macuti City. The main objective of the proposal is not only to consolidate, upgrade and enhance the space, but also to make alive the history and symbolism that this place provides
