Abstract(s)
O presente relatório tem por objetivo apresentar o contexto e trabalho desenvolvidos durante o período de estágio feito na Fidelidade – Companhia de Seguros, S.A, no departamento de Branding e Comunicação, no âmbito do Mestrado em Tradução, da Faculdade de Letras Universidade de Lisboa.
Uma vez que se pretende justificar as escolhas tradutórias dos textos trabalhados durante o estágio de acordo com os conhecimentos adquiridos durante o mestrado, o relatório divide-se em cinco partes principais. Estas correspondem à contextualização do ambiente e local em que o estágio se realizou; à definição dos conceitos de tradutor e tradução acompanhada por uma breve abordagem sobre as teorias de traduzibilidade e intraduzibilidade; a uma reflexão sobre os principais problemas de tradução encontrados durante o estágio e as respetivas medidas adotadas de acordo com os métodos de tradução convencionados; a uma reflexão dedicada a enaltecer outras competências, externas à tradução per se, que foram desenvolvidas durante o estágio; e uma última parte dedicada às considerações finais que visam ponderar todo o trabalho desenvolvido não só durante o estágio mas também durante a execução deste relatório.
A relevância do documento aqui elaborado reside no contributo que este pode vir a dar aos futuros estagiários como forma de lhes apresentar a realidade de estágio e prepará-los para os novos contextos e desafios com que terão de se deparar. Ao me debruçar sobre a reflexão do papel e importância que o estágio tem para o desenvolvimento das competências do aluno, pretendo também enaltecer a relevância curricular que o estágio apresenta, procurando instigar ao aumento de currículos de formação na área de tradução que incluam, imprescindivelmente, momentos de estágio.
This report aims to present the context and work developed during the internship period carried out at Fidelidade – Companhia de Seguros, S.A, in the branding and communication department, with the purpose of concluding the Master’s Degree in Translation, at the School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon. Since the main objective is to justify the translation choices of the texts translated during the internship according to the knowledge acquired during the master’s seminars, this report is divided into five main parts. They correspond to the contextualization of the environment and place where the internship took place; the definition of the concepts of translator and translation coupled with a brief approach on the theories of translatability and untranslatability; a reflection on the main translation problems experienced during the internship and the respective measures adopted according to the stipulated translation methods; a reflection dedicated to extolling other competences, external to translation per se, that were developed during the internship; and a last part dedicated to the final considerations that aim to ponder all the work accomplished not only through the internship but also during the construction of this report. The relevance of the document here presented resides in the contribution that it can offer to future trainees as a way of presenting them with the reality of the internship and preparing them for the new contexts and challenges they will have to face. When looking at the reflection on the role and importance that the internship has for the development of the student’s skills, I also intend to highlight the curricular relevance that the internship represents, while trying to instigate the increase of training curricula in the translation area that indispensably include internship moments.
