The present project work, Designing US, is placed between the scientific areas of medicine and technology, where it seeks the synthetization of aspects inherent to the quality of life of an amputee, in the form of a multiarticulated myoelectric transradial prosthesis. This project work is divided into 4 parts, “O QUOTIDIANO DE UM AMPUTADO” (daily life on an amputee), “PRÓTESES” (prosthesis), “O PAPEL DO DESIGNER” (Designer’s role), e “PROJETO” (project). The first 3 chapters are based on the direct and indirect conditioning factors that influence the life on an amputated person. They are thus intended to provide a framework to the project’s chapter, highlighting the imperative aspects, to the projection of a comfortable, desirable, safe and meaningful prosthesis. “PROJETO”, is therefore, the conclusive subject of this investigation, which focus in 4 parts, “Dispositivo terminal” (terminal device), “Interface protética” (prosthetic interface), “Estética” (aesthetics) and “Processo de compra” (Purchase process). It consists on the functional elaboration of a prosthesis, from its mechanical development of the finger’s operation of the terminal device, from the fit of the prosthesis to the remaining parts of the member, until the idealization of a purchasing process, which allows an amputee to buy a prosthesis through an online platform. Therefore, its purpose its to develop equipment design and service solutions, which help and improve the current, from a more empathic perspective with the user. It thus reflects, in more sophisticated issues, regarding the act of touch, and of the possible designer’s role, in developing solutions of this degree of affinity. It is a delicate area, still in development, that even though it is dependent of technological breakthroughs for the creation of a prosthesis, that fully replaces the functions of an anatomical arm, it is possible, step by step, develop details that offer a better quality of life to the amputeept_PT
