The current work seeks to explore the concepts of IT project management, relating them with the internship in which the candidate participated. The Waterfall and Agile methodologies were approached to scrutinize their adaptability in IT projects. It was possible to analyze the advantages and disadvantages of each methodology, as well as their suitability. After the theoretical analysis of the mentioned concepts, it followed a detailed description of the activities performed by the candidate during his internship. It was divided into two phases; the first focused on monitoring the tasks performed by PMs in Waterfall projects, and the second focused on Agile projects in the Scrum framework. It was sought to identify the applicability of the theoretical concepts in the organizational context. It was concluded that IT projects differ from projects in other areas because they present unique characteristics that require new management techniques. The context where IT organizations operate is highly unpredictable and complex, requiring flexibility in their management.
