O Universo sempre fascinou o ser humano. Olhar um céu noturno, sem luzes artificiais prende a atenção e dá aso à imaginação. Este relatório apresenta uma análise da tradução de francês para português, do livro Guide de l’astronome débutant, um texto de divulgação científico- técnica que transporta o leitor a um mundo desconhecido e cheio de mistérios, o espaço sideral. No presente trabalho são explorados os desafios da adaptação de um texto de divulgação científico-técnico. A análise envolve uma leitura atenta do texto de partida, a criação de um glossário bilíngue e o uso da ferramenta Sketch Engine para estudar conectores, metáforas, fraseologia popular e formas de tratamento. A tradução procurou equilibrar fidelidade ao conteúdo original e clareza para o leitor, considerando estratégias de equivalência, literalidade e adaptação cultural. A comparação entre o texto de partida e a tradução evidencia as escolhas feitas, e demonstra como a adaptação do vocabulário, dos recursos estilísticos e do registo contribui para um texto acessível e coeso. Traduzir textos de divulgação científica consiste em, acima de tudo, difundir o conhecimento.
The Universe has always been fascinating to humans. To observe the night sky, without the interference of artificial lights, locks the attention and sparks the imagination. This report presents the analysis of the translation from French to Portuguese, of the book Guide de l’astronome débutant, a popular science text that guides the reader into an unknown world filled with mysteries, the outer space. The present report explores the challenges involved in the adaptation of a popular science text. The analysis includes the careful reading of the original text, the creation of a bilingual glossary and the use of a corpora analysis tool, Sketch Engine, to study connectors, metaphors, common expressions and forms of address. The translation sought to balance the fidelity to the original content and the clarity for the target reader, by using strategies of equivalence, literalness and cultural adaptation. The comparison between the original text and its translation highlights the choices made, and demonstrates how the vocabulary adaptation, of stylistic resources and of register make an accessible and cohesive text. To translate popular science texts is to spread knowledge.
