Considering that the strengthening relationship between school and family, in a logic of partnership, constitutes a possible process of innovation in education, this work, carried out as part of the Master's degree in education, specializing in innovation in education, at the Institute of Education of the University of Lisbon, aimed to deepen knowledge about the schooling processes and the modalities of parental involvement and participation, developed in a small elementary school in the municipality of Torres Vedras, called FAROL project, from its creation in 2015 to the present day. The aim was to understand how the mothers of the FAROL project children perceive their children's schooling process, to what extent FAROL fits the school model valued by these mothers, what results they consider their children have achieved in terms of their personal and academic development and how they understand that this project maintains the characteristics of an innovative educational experience. To this end, a case study was carried out. The data was collected in the 2022/2023 school year through semi-structured interviews with eleven mothers. In addition, documentary analysis and direct observation were carried out of a series of sessions held at school in which parents were present. The results indicate that the mothers consider the FAROL project remains an innovative educational experience, very different from other schools in terms of the way it manages to foster parental involvement and participation and promotes children's well-being and happiness. According to the perceptions of the mothers interviewed, the good school results obtained by their children while attending this school are due to the personalized attention that is given to each student and to their motivation and interest in studying that is aroused by the diversity of activities and teaching methodologies adopted, and the type of involvement that is established between families and FAROL has also contributed to this. Because of its characteristics, the FAROL project fits the school model that these mothers wanted for their children.
