Burnout, ansiedade e depressão nos professores

A carreira docente é apontada como uma das profissões que podem desencadear o burnout. O presente trabalho apresenta dados de um estudo realizado com 513 professores de várias escolas do Concelho de Odivelas e teve como objectivos: 1) investigar eventuais diferenças nas dimensões do instrumento CBP-R em função dos níveis de burnout nos professores; 2) observar eventuais diferenças nas 6 dimensões do CBP-R em função das variáveis sócio-demográficas e profissionais Sexo, Idade, Estado Civil, Tipo de Ensino, Situação Profissional e Tipo de Vínculo e 3) verificar se existe uma correlação entre os níveis de Ansiedade e de Depressão e a síndrome de Burnout. Os instrumentos utilizados neste estudo foram o Questionário de Dados Sócio-demográficos e Profissionais, o CBP-R e o EADS-21.
Os resultados mais relevantes prendem-se com o facto de os professores deste grupo, que apresentavam níveis característicos de burnout, terem apresentado as maiores pontuações em todas as dimensões do CBP-R. Relativamente ao objectivo 2, foram encontradas diferenças significativas nas dimensões do CBP-R em função das variáveis sócio-demográficas e profissionais, à excepção da variável Tipo de Vínculo.
Verificou-se a presença de correlações significativas e positivas entre a Ansiedade e a Depressão e entre o Burnout e as sub-dimensões, o que sugere que os professores que sofrem de Burnout estão sujeitos a ter também níveis de Ansiedade e de Depressão.
Teaching career are recognized as one of the professions that can unchain burnout. This work presents the data of a study with 513 teachers of several schools from Odivelas. The main objectives were: 1) investigate possible differences in the dimensions of CBP-R in function of the levels of burnout; 2) investigate differences in the 6 dimensions of CBP-R in function of the socio-demographic and professional variables Sex, Age, Marital Status, Type of Teaching, Professional Situation and Type of Professional Contract; 3) verify the existence of correlations between the levels of Anxiety and Depression and the Burnout. The instruments used in this study were the Questionary of Sócio-demographic and Professional Data, the CBP-R and the EADS-21. The main results show that teachers in this study that presented burnout levels were the ones that had the larger ratings in all the dimensions of CBP-R. In relation to aim 2, we found significant differences in the dimensions of CBP-R in function of the socio-demographic and professional variables, to exception of variable Type of Professional Contract. We verify the presence of positive and significant correlations between Anxiety, Depression and Burnout, and among the Burnout sub-dimensions. These results suggests that teachers that suffer from burnout may have higher levels of Anxiety and Depression too.
