Resumo(s)
A proximidade da cidade de Setúbal com o rio foi um
elemento fundamental para o seu desenvolvimento urbano,
económico e social. Através da implementação do porto é
vinculada uma nova e diferente ligação entre a cidade e o rio.
Em Setúbal o fenómeno da industrialização proporcionou
um aumento na construção de edifícios para suportar estas
atividades económicas. Estes concentraram-se essencialmente
nas frentes ribeirinhas para ter um contato mais próximo com o
porto, de modo a facilitar o transporte das mercadorias.
Atualmente, a generalidade das frentes ribeirinhas
encontram-se bastante marcadas pela presença de edifícios
industriais e de espaços públicos envolventes. Após o
encerramento de algumas indústrias e da deslocalização de
outras para a periferia da cidade, surge uma grande quantidade
de edificado sem utilização. Dada a importância no traçado da
cidade e o valor histórico que estes edifícios e espaços públicos
possuem, tornam-se elementos fundamentais a reabilitar.
A presente proposta pretende a reabilitação de edifícios
e espaços públicos ao longo da frente ribeirinha da cidade, atribuindo-lhes novas usos
ABSTRACT: Setubal’s vacinity to the river has been a key element to its urban, economic and social development. The establishment of the harbor offers a new and different connection between the city and the river In Setúbal, the phenomenon of industrialization has provided an increase in construction to support these economic activities. These were mainly concentrated on the riverside fronts with closer contact to the port, in order to provide the transport of goods. Nowadays, most riverside fronts are highlighted by the presence of industrial buildings and surrounding public spaces. After the shutdown of some industries and the relocation of others to the outskirts of Setubal, a number of vancant buildings have spawned. Given the importance in the layout of the city and the historical value that these buildings and public spaces hold, it´s vital that these elements be rehabilitated. This proposal aims to rehabilitate buildings and public spaces along the city's waterfront, giving them new uses.
