Abstract(s)
Este trabalho de mestrado aborda o tema da arquitectura como recurso terapêutico, no tratamento de doenças do foro psicológico. Procura-se perceber qual a influência do espaço arquitectónico no quotidiano dos portadores de doenças mentais. A partir de um estudo sobre a saúde mental feito através de conversas com profissionais, juntamente com o contacto de alguns doentes, terapeutas e familiares, pretende-se concretizar um espaço de consultas, actividades especializadas, terapias ocupacionais e espaços públicos qualificados, em Alburrica: um Centro Terapêutico de Saúde Mental.
Entender a maneira como os elementos do espaço, principalmente a luz, a cor, a forma, o som e os materiais, afetam de forma positiva ou negativamente na percepção do ambiente vivido, levando a diferentes comportamentos e experiências espaciais. Assim, este trabalho procura sensibilizar para a função dos arquitectos, pois esta irá definir a vivência do ser humano num espaço. Por isso, cumpre-lhes compreender estes elementos, os seus significados, atributos e benefícios, para que a vivência torne-se manifestamente assertiva.
O objectivo deste trabalho é explorar o papel da arquitectura enquanto ambiente terapêutico que estimula o processo de cura, promovendo a sensação de bem-estar social, físico e psicológico. Posto isto, e através do estudo de estratégias de concepção de ambientes terapêuticos, tenta-se demonstrar que a arquitectura tem a capacidade de provocar sensações na percepção e vivências do espaço.
ABSTRACT: This master’s thesis approaches the subject of architecture as a therapeutic resource on the treatment of psychological diseases. It seeks to understand the influence of the architectural space on the daily life of people with mental diseases. From a study about mental health done trough meetings with the professionals of the area, together with the contact of some patients, therapists and relatives, it is intended to create a space of consultations, specialized activities, occupational therapies and qualified public spaces in Alburrica: A Mental Health therapeutic center. To understand the way the space elements, mostly the light, the colour, the shape, the sound and the materials affect positively or negatively in the perception of the lived environment, leading to different behaviors and experiences related to the surrounding space. Thus, this research work seeks to sensitize the function of the architects, since this will define the human being's experience in a space. Therefore, it is up to them to understand these elements, their meanings, attributes and benefits, so that the experience becomes manifestly assertive. The main purpose of this thesis is to explore the role of architecture while therapeutic environment that stimulates the healing process, promoting the sensation of social, physical and psychological well-being. As a result of this, and through the study of strategies of conception of therapeutic environments, it is tried to demonstrate that the architecture has the capacity to cause sensations in the perception and experiences of the surrounding space.
