| dc.description.abstract | Desde o início do século XX que a literatura fantástica tem conhecido um exponencial desenvolvimento. Recentemente, Harry Potter, a obra de sete volumes de J. K. Rowling, cativou um vasto número de leitores, tendo sido adaptada ao cinema. Acreditamos que este sucesso se deve ao facto de a literatura fantástica responder a muitas das indagações que inquietam o ser humano, assumindo-se assim como um espaço de reflexão privilegiado sobre o mundo. Neste exercício reflexivo é de particular importância a figura do herói. Defendemos, pois, que, na sua obra mais conhecida, J. K. Rowling demonstra um profundo conhecimento da natureza humana, ao relevar as temáticas do amor, da morte e do sacrifício. Intrinsecamente ligados entre si, o modo como estes temas figuram na obra denota um afastamento da concepção árida e egoísta que a contemporaneidade faz do mundo. A sua centralidade na diegese decorre, em grande parte, da revisitação que a autora faz da cosmovisão de algumas sociedades tradicionais, em particular da medieval. | por |
| dc.description.abstract | ABSTRACT: Fantastic literature has seen an exponential growth since the beginning of the twentieth century. More recently, the Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling has captivated a large number of readers, having been adapted into film. The success of the books and films is due to fantastic literature‘s ability to provide many of the answers that trouble human beings. As such, fantasy literature is reflexive, rendering a privileged and unique view of the world to which the role of the hero is of particular interest. In her most renowned work, J. K. Rowling shows a deep knowledge of the human nature by emphasizing the themes of love, death and sacrifice, all of which are intrinsically interconnected in the books. Consequently, it is possible to denote an accentuated departure from more contemporary theories that make of the world an arid and selfish place.
