Abstract(s)
This internship report aims to explore the contribution of design systenns to the design handoff between the designer and developer. through an internship program in the area of UX/UI Design, in collaboration with the product team of Samlino.dk, during a period of approxinnately six months. Samlino.dk is a financial comparison platform for the Danish audience with its product development team (as of July 2021, consisting of one product owner, one UX/UI Designer, two back-end developers and two front-end developers) based in Lisbon, Portugal. During the internship, the master's student created a design system for Samlino.dk, with the help of insights gathered from theoretical contextualization and exploratory research. This work has benefitted the student in gaining more experience as a UX/UI Designer professionally and increased her focus on collaboration as a decisive issue underlying product development. Moreover, the handoff process improved with each sprint (2-week work cycle) in terms of speed and efficiency and Samlino.dk has gained a design system accessible to the whole product team. The work carried out during the internship followed a mixed, interventionist and non-interventionist methodology with a qualitative basis. A set of methods including netnographic research, think-aloud protocols, semi-structured interviews and active research allowed the master's student to deveiop and articulate the theoretical and practical knowledge acquired during the Master of Interaction Design, and also to gain Professional skills as a UX/UI Designer.
