As artes e ofícios tradicionais representam um saber tão ancestral, como o próprio
Homem, que tiveram uma enorme importância como suporte às actividades humanas
(económicas, domésticas, entre outras). No entanto, com a concorrência industrial, o
artesanato perdeu grande parte da sua vocação utilitária, passando a ter actualmente uma
função mais decorativa.
O objecto do presente Estudo, será apresentar a importância do artesanato no campo
do Desenvolvimento Local, demonstrando de que modo, a sua valorização por parte dos
actores locais, pode representar uma mais-valia.
O Relatório está dividido em quatro partes. Na primeira parte é descrita, de forma
breve, a experiência do Estágio, bem como as mais-valias adquiridas.
Na segunda parte do Relatório faz-se uma pequena reflexão em torno dos conceitos de
Desenvolvimento Local e de Artesanato, de modo a perspectivar a relevância das actividades
artesanais no processo de Desenvolvimento Local.
Em seguida, efectua-se a caracterização das formas de expressão tradicional do
Artesanato em Peniche, que será o ponto de partida para a delineação da Estratégia.
Por fim, serão propostos alguns caminhos/ sugestões, que poderão contribuir para o
desenvolvimento das formas de expressão tradicional em Peniche, protegendo esta actividade,
tornando-a num elemento de relevo para o município.
Abstract: The arts and traditional crafts represent such an ancestral knowledge, as man himself, that they had a huge importance as a support to human activities (economic, domestic, among others). However, due to industrial competition, handcrafts have lost a major part of its utilitarian vocation, having presently a more decorative function. The subject of this study will be to present the importance of handcraft in the field of Local Development, showing how its valorisation by local actors may be an asset. The Report is divided in four sections. The first one briefly describes the experience of the stage as well as the gains acquired. The second section of the Report includes a small reflection on the concepts of Local Development and Handcraft, so as to put in perspective the relevance of Handcraft activities in the process of Local Development. Then the characterization of the traditional ways of expression of Handcraft in Peniche is carried out, being it the basis to the delineation of the strategy to follow. Finally, some paths/suggestions will be proposed, which may contribute to the development of the traditional ways of expression in Peniche, thus protecting this activity and making it a element of importance to the municipality.
